Remember “Avengers: Age Of Ultron”?
We're at that part of the summer now where May seems like a lifetime ago. So many things have happened, so much has screened, and it's been a summer dense with great work. I got lost somewhere down the “Fury Road” for a while, felt it intensely when I got turned “Inside Out” by Bing Bong, and am currently head over heels for my trip to a “Rogue Nation.”
But the summer started off with the 12-course dinner of “Avengers: Age Of Ultron,” and one of the things I've been thinking about while waiting for the home video revisit is the way it feels like a comment on where Marvel Studios is right now as much as it feels like a regular superhero story. Marvel has proven to be a 900-pound-gorilla of a studio, and by sheer brute force, they have changed the way the other studios approach their creative business. There's a fatigue that has set in for the world of these movies, and people are starting to grow weary of the destruction and the scale and the potential end of the world. It's little wonder they went small with the charming “Ant-Man” and that they're going to dig into what happens when the world gets tired of superheroes and supervillains smashing everything to rubble in next year's “Captain America: Civil War.”
They just announced home video details for “Ultron,” and Disney and Marvel sent over an exclusive clip from the film to plant the flag.
