Seth MacFarlane's new Western parody “A Million Ways to Die in the West” teaches you about the murders, duels, diseases, and occasional falling ice blocks that can end your life on the frontier. Though he also directed and co-wrote the film, MacFarlane imbues his acting in “A Million Ways…” with a surprising amount of self-deprecating, even unassuming charm — which is really saying something in a movie teeming with outrageous sight gags and explosive killings.
We caught up with MacFarlane to discuss how he directed a very diverse cast (including Charlize Theron, Sarah Silverman, and Neil Patrick Harris) and the non-Oscars award show he'd still like to host.
