The upcoming “Neighbors,” starring Seth Rogen and Zac Efron, will carry on the rich and illustrious legacy of fraternity comedies.
In the newest trailer for the Universal comedy, Rogen and Rose Byrne play new parents who find their quite suburban life upended when a frat house — including ringleader Efron, plus frequent Rogen collaborators Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Dave Franco — moves in next door.
The trailer features most of the same story beats and jokes as the previously-released red band trailer, but it’s far less raunchy. New footage includes a follow-up airbag gag and a few alternate takes, including Franco’s amusing Robert De Niro impression.
“Neighbors” was directed by Nick Stoller (“Forgetting Sarah Marshall,” “Get Him to the Greek”) from a script by Rogen and Evan Goldberg (“Superbad”)
Lisa Kudrow, Jake Johnson (“New Girl”) and Rogen’s “Undeclared” co-star Carla Gallo also appear in the film, although they don’t figure much in the trailer.
“Neighbors” opens May 9, 2014.
