After — by CBS' standards — receiving disappointing ratings in its first season, Supergirl is officially making the move to the CW for season 2, where many felt that the show belonged initially.
Not wasting any time, the network will introduce Superman in the first two episodes of the season. The iconic superhero will first be seen visiting his cousin Kara in National City, but it's unclear how large a role he will now play throughout the course of the series.
“[Executive producers] Greg Berlanti, Ali Adler and I are beyond thrilled to welcome Clark Kent and his slightly-more-famous alter ego to the world of Supergirl,” said executive producer Andrew Kreisberg. “Superman will be appearing in the first two episodes of the new season and we cannot wait to see who next dons the red cape!”
The casting process is now underway. Though the Man of Steel was seen in flashbacks and frequently referenced and hinted at during the series' freshman season, it is a significant shift for Supergirl to bring Supes front and center.
It's a savvy move to draw in viewers for the first few episodes at its new home. Likely the idea will be to get new audiences hooked, but maintain Kara's role as the fulcrum of the series.

Thee second season of Supergirl will be airing Mondays this fall at 8/7c on The CW.
