Just like with the Oscars, some artists take out “for your consideration” ads when soliciting votes for the Academy of Country Music Awards.
For the last few years, Taylor Swift has taken it a step further and posted a funny video that gets her in front of voters” eyeballs, but always in a way that pokes a little fun at herself and doesn”t shill for votes in a shameless way.
This year, she does all she can do to put off a discussion with her label head, Scott Borchetta, about making the video and in doing so, playfully references everything that has endeared her to us, including her boy obsession and her devotion to her cat, Meredith, who gets an adorable cameo.
Dressed in stylish black top and pants, she looks sleek and effortlessly elegant, like Audrey Hepburn in “Funny Face.” In Borchetta's office, “Hail to the Chief” plays, while Swift's ringtone for Borchetta is A$AP Rocky's “Fu**in' Problems.”
Swift is up for five awards at the April 6 show, including entertainer of the year, as well as female vocalist, vocal event, single and video.
