Unless Peter Jackson decides to adapt some obscure Tolkien tome (or someone thinks a reboot is necessary), the upcoming “The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies” will be the last venture into the Middle Earth that spawned the lucrative “Lord of the Rings” trilogy.
The final trailer for the film was unleashed today. As various factions prepare for a showdown, Thorin's lust for power grows and Sauron's re-emergance continues. And fans are treated to a parade of elves, dwarves, orcs, trolls, war-bats, speeches, and more. There's even a Hobbit named Bilbo in there somewhere.

The holiday season is just around the corner and, although there will be plenty of movies vying for your attention, “Hobbit” will be your last chance to see Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen, Richard Armitage, Cate Blanchett, Orlando Bloom, Evangeline Lilly, Hugo Weaving, Lee Pace, Christopher Lee, and Luke Evans, as well as your final opportunity to hear the silky-smooth Benedict Cumberbatch as the smoking hot dragon Smaug.
“The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies” opens December 17.
