Ghostbusters Day will unite the mighty Houses of the Old Ghostbusters and the New. We've got exact details of how that will happen plus some info on the soundtrack including who is covering Ray Parker Jr.”s classic Ghostbusters theme.
You may recall us reporting on the original film coming back to theaters for two different special events? Well, there's more planned, and I'm sure this won't be the last of it.
The Ghostbusters casts will combine their comedy powers on Jimmy Kimmel Live June 8, reports USA Today. Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson and Annie Potts will rep for the original cast while Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones will play for the new team. I'm sure the originals praising the new film on the show will get just as much vitriol as poor Aykroyd did recently. Mostly I'm just excited for Potts.
“Seeing the original and new Ghostbusters all together (will be) like being in the presence of the comedy gods on Mount Olympus,” new director Paul Feig told USA Today. “This is an epic summit of some of the funniest people on the planet. Long live the Ghostbusters!”
Now. The theme. It turns out Fall Out Boy will be doing the new version with a verse by Missy Elliott. I can't say I'm a Fall Out Boy fan, so this is not exciting news to me. I'd have preferred Elliott doing the whole thing or maybe someone completely new.
FOB x @MissyElliott #Ghostbusters collab coming soon ???? who ya gonna call? pic.twitter.com/teaspEHtEH

Other artists on the soundtrack will include G-Eazy ft. Jeremih, 5 Seconds of Summer, Pentatonix, WALK THE MOON and Wolf Alice according to Billboard. At least one track from the album has made it online in full. “Good Girls” by Elle King. You'll be able to purchase the soundtrack on July 15th.
