Anya Taylor-Joy made a strong impression in Robert Eggers' fantastic The Witch as a teenage girl accused of practicing black magic in 17th century New England. Now the actress is back playing another misunderstood character: an artificial human who comes under review by a corporate risk-management consultant (Kate Mara) who must decide whether or not to terminate her following a presumably violent incident.
Here's another interesting thing about Morgan: it was directed by Ridley Scott's son Luke Scott (the elder Scott is involved as a producer), here making his feature directorial debut. Whether he's as talented as his famous father remains to be seen, but the trailer is a tantalizing, slow-burn piece of business that has me sufficiently intrigued. Check it out below.
Morgan hits theaters on September 2.
