Lara Croft, the globe-trotting adventurer, now has an official date for her return to the silver screen.
Warner Bros announced that Tomb Raider will be in theaters on March 16, 2018, according to Variety. The film will star Oscar-winning actress Alicia Vikander as Croft. No other cast is yet attached to the project.
By the time the movie is out in 2018, it will have been nearly 15 years since the last in the series, Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life, was released. That movie starred a then 28-year-old Angelina Jolie as Croft. The two movies with Jolie grossed an unadjusted $430 million worldwide.
Vikander has a busy schedule these days. She”s in the upcoming Jason Bourne movie set for release later this month and has four other films in various stages of production.
