Fast National ratings for Thursday, July 10, 2014.
The season's second “Big Brother” eviction delivered Thursday's best key demo numbers and combined with a “Big Bang Theory” repeat to help CBS lead primetime in most measures.
Also on Thursday, NBC's “Welcome to Sweden” premiered got off to a decent start, with the launch of “Working the Engels” dipping a bit. Both comedies came in below the May premiere for “Undateable,” but “Sweden” was above recent “Undateable” numbers and “Working the Engels” was comparable.
Among other notables, ABC's “NY Med” and “Rookie Blue” were consistent and helped the network finish second overall, while “Hell's Kitchen” helped FOX take second in the key demographic.
On to the numbers…
Among adults 18-49, CBS averaged a 1.4 rating for Thursday night, tops in the key demographic. FOX was second with a 1.1 key demo rating, followed by NBC's 0.9 key demo rating and the 0.8 key demo rating for ABC. The CW averaged a 0.3 key demo rating for Thursday primetime.
Overall, CBS averaged an estimated 5.605 million viewers and a 3.6 rating/7 share for Thursday night, topping the 3.1/6 and 4.58 million viewers for ABC. FOX's 3.58 million viewers and 2.2/4 held off the 2.3/4 and 3.43 million viewers for NBC. The CW averaged 680,000 viewers and a 0.4/1 for the night.
8 p.m. – Repeats of “The Big Bang Theory” (7.86 million and a 1.7 key demo) and “The Millers” (5.78 million and a 1.3 key demo) led the 8 p.m. hour for CBS. FOX's “Hell's Kitchen” was second with 4.67 million viewers and tied for the lead with a 1.5 rating among adults 18-49. NBC's “Hollywood Game Night” averaged 3.825 million viewers and a 0.9 key demo rating, topping the 3.62 million viewers and 0.7 key demo rating for ABC's “Black Box.” The CW's “The Vampire Diaries” repeat averaged 690,000 viewers and a 0.3 key demo rating.
9 p.m. – “Big Brother” cruised to 9 p.m. victory with 6.15 million viewers and a 2.0 rating among adults 18-49 for CBS, far ahead of the 4.94 million viewers and 0.9 key demo rating for ABC's “Rookie Blue.” NBC was third overall and tied for third in the key demo with “Welcome to Sweden” (3.5 million and a 0.9 key demo) and “Working the Engels” (2.755 million viewers and a 0.7 key demo). FOX's “Gang Related” continued to be low-but-steady with 2.48 million viewers and a 0.8 key demo rating. On The CW, a repeat for the Emmy nominated “The Originals” averaged 669,000 viewers and a 0.3 key demo rating.
10 p.m. – ABC's “NY Med” led the 10 p.m. hour overall with 5.17 million viewers and finished a close second with a 0.9 rating among adults 18-49. CBS' encore of the “Extant” premiere averaged 3.84 million viewers for second and a 0.7 key demo rating for third. NBC's “Last Comic Standing” won the hour with a 1.0 key demo rating, but finished third overall with 3.33 million viewers.
