Fast National ratings for Tuesday, February 3, 2015.
New episodes of “NCIS” and “NCIS: New Orleans” were Tuesday night's top shows in all measures and led CBS to victory both overall and in the key demographic.
There were dipping numbers for a variety of Tuesday programs, including “NCIS,” albeit with caveats.
The CW's “The Flash,” for example, was down a chunk overall, but there was no decline in any of the key young demos, so the network isn't worried. ABC's “Marvel's Agent Carter” was flat in the key demo and down in viewers despite an improved lead-in, while “Forever” dipped below The Mulaney Line. And airing as a solo episode (with a repeat) for the first time this season, “Parks and Recreation” was down, as NBC finished behind The CW for that hour (though oddly both “Marry Me” and “About a Boy” were up in the demo, as was “Chicago Fire”).
Let's get to the numbers…
Among adults 18-49, CBS averaged a 2.1 rating for Tuesday night, easily tops in the key demographic. FOX and ABC both averaged a 1.4 key demo rating for second, followed closely by NBC's 1.2 key demo rating and The CW's 1.1 key demo rating for the night.
Overall, CBS dominated with an estimated 14.73 million viewers and a 9.2 rating/15 share for Tuesday primetime. ABC was far back in second with 5.25 million viewers and a 3.4/6. NBC's 2.6/4 and 3.99 million viewers edged out the 3.76 million viewers and 2.3/4 for FOX. The CW averaged 2.87 million viewers and a 1.7/3 for the night.
8 p.m. – “NCIS” was Tuesday's top show with 18.615 million viewers and a 2.6 rating among adults 18-49 for CBS in the 8 p.m. hour. ABC's “Shark Tank” was second with 7.11 million viewers and a 1.9 key demo rating, topping FOX's 4.89 million viewers and 1.6 key demo rating for “MasterChef Junior.” The CW's “The Flash” averaged 3.47 million viewers and held onto its 1.3 key demo rating, topping the numbers for NBC's new “Parks and Recreation” (3.57 million and a 1.2 key demo) and a repeat (2.01 million and a 0.8 key demo).
9 p.m. – “NCIS: New Orleans” held onto 16.38 million viewers and a 2.2 rating among adults 18-49 from its lead-in, winning the 9 p.m. hour for CBS. The hour continued to be hilariously top-heavy with “Marvel's Agent Carter” finishing second all the way down with 4.25 million viewers and a 1.3 key demo rating. NBC's “Marry Me” (2.32 million and a 0.9 key demo) and “About a Boy” (3.03 million and a 1.0 key demo) finished third overall, but tied for fourth in the key demo, compared to FOX's “New Girl” (2.99 million and 1.4 key demo) and “The Mindy Project” (2.26 million and 1.1 key demo) and The CW's “Supernatural” (2.27 million and a 0.9 key demo rating).
10 p.m. – “Person of Interest” averaged 9.19 million viewers to win the 10 p.m. hour overall for CBS, but dropped the network to second with a 1.4 rating among adults 18-49. NBC's “Chicago Fire” averaged 6.49 million for second and led with a 1.6 key demo rating. And ABC's “Forever” actually improved on its lead-in with 4.375 million viewers, but slipped to a 0.9 key demo rating.
