Fast National ratings for Tuesday, February 24, 2015.
The Tuesday premiere of “The Voice” helped NBC storm out to a bit Tuesday lead among young viewers and the finale of “Parks and Recreation” avoided the kind of negative (literally) numbers that it would have taken for NBC to squander that lead for the night. NBC was still no match for “NCIS”-driven CBS overall, of course.
Tuesday's biggest takeaway was that although “The Voice” came back strong, it had only a little impact on its competition, for the most park. CBS' “NCIS” and “NCIS: New Orleans” lost a couple hundred thousand viewers, but only “NCIS” dipped in the key demo and that was only by 0.1. ABC's “Marvel's Agent Carter” also lost 0.1 in the key demo for its finale, but stayed reasonably steady, though still low.
Dropping a bit more was FOX's “MasterChef Junior” finale, but the network's comedies were flat.
Also staying encouragingly flat was ABC's “Fresh Off The Boat,” which shed a few viewers but didn't move in the key demo despite “The Voice.”
On to the numbers…
Among adults 18-49, NBC averaged a 3.1 rating for Tuesday primetime, tops in the key demographic. CBS was a distant second with a 2.0 key demo rating, comfortably ahead of the 1.4 key demo rating for FOX and ABC's 1.3 key demo rating. The CW averaged a 0.4 key demo rating for the night.
Overall, though, CBS averaged an estimated 13.58 million viewers and an 8.5 rating/14 share for Tuesday night, far ahead of the 10.61 million viewers and 6.4/11 for NBC. There was a huge drop to ABC's 4.5 million viewers and 2.9/5 and to FOX's 2.2/4 and 3.72 million viewers. The CW averaged 1.26 million viewers and a 0.8/1 for the night.
8 p.m. – “NCIS” led the 8 p.m. hour overall with 17.43 million viewers, but finished a distance second with a 2.4 rating among adults 18-49. NBC's “The Voice” ruled with a 3.6 key demo rating and finished a distant second with 13.14 million viewers. ABC's “Fresh Off The Boat” (5.79 million and a 1.9 key demo) and “Repeat After Me” (3.89 million and a 1.3 key demo rating” and FOX's “MasterChef Junior” finale (4.8 million and a 1.6 key demo) were in a dead heat. The CW's “TV's Hottest Commercials Countdown” averaged 1.395 million viewers and a 0.4 key demo rating.
9 p.m. – “The Voice” took over first in the 9 p.m. hour with 14.5 million viewers and a 4.1 rating among adults 18-49. CBS' “NCIS: New Orleans” was a close second overall with 13.84 million, but a distant second with a 2.0 key demo rating. ABC's “Marvel's Agent Carter” took third for the hour with 4 million viewers and a 1.3 key demo rating. FOX was fourth with “New Girl” (2.905 million viewers and a 1.4 key demo) and “The Mindy Project” (2.36 million and a 1.1 key demo). 10 p.m. – “Person of Interest” closed primetime with 9.47 million viewers and a 1.7 rating among adults 18-49, rising without “Chicago Fire” competition.
