“Connors does feel kind of cheated by God, and he’s looking for answers in science.” – Rhys Ifans
That quote pretty much sums up the tortured origins of “Amazing Spider-Man” villain Dr. Curt Connors (a.k.a. The Lizard), and those origins are explored in a new featurette that’s just been released for the upcoming film. But perhaps the term “villain” isn’t an entirely fair descriptor for the pathos-ridden scientist, who in the world of the movie once collaborated with Peter Parker’s father prior to the latter man’s mysterious disappearance.
“I’m not portraying a villain in any sense,” says Ifans in a behind-the-scenes interview. “It’s a man with real genuine needs and anxieties.”
Along with Ifans’ interview, the latest featurette also boasts some cool-looking footage, including what appears to be an early stage of Connors’ transformation from man to reptile.
Check out the featurette above and let us know what you think!
“The Amazing Spider-Man” hits theaters on July 3.
