Peter Dinklage knows the ending to “Game of Thrones,” or at the very least, he has been given some hints, not that he necessarily wants them. He did offer to tell me when I spoke to him about “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” but he also gave the classic rejoinder that if he did, he”d have to kill me.
If you watch the above interview, you will see that I attempted to get answers, and was even willing to sacrifice myself for them. However, as I am here to tell the tale, I don”t know where the show is heading.
What I can tell you is that, given the opportunity, Dinklage would like to work with fellow “Game of Thrones” cast members Liam Cunningham (Davos Seaworth) and Stephen Dillane (Stannis Baratheon). As he pointed out though, that really can”t happen on the show, “I don”t think Tyrion would last very long hanging out with the two of them… [the Battle of the Blackwater] sullied that relationship a little bit. So, maybe the three of us will go and do like an indie movie or something.”
The primary reason for the interview, of course, wasn”t to talk “Game of Thrones,” but rather “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” which is anything but an indie movie. In the massively large sequel to “X-Men: First Class,” Dinklage portrays Bolivar Trask, a scientist who develops a series of robots, called Sentinels, are tasked with destroying all mutants.
It is a tale of technology gone awry, of men pushing things beyond the bounds of what we ought to do and, according to the actor, it all goes back to Mary Shelley and Frankenstein”s Monster. Dinklage did caution though that the movie isn”t just a tale of technology gone awry, but rather that Trask has created “machines of war.” As for himself, Dinklage noted a big difference between himself and the character, saying that he likes “to find peaceful solutions in life, to any sort of conflict, no matter how large or small.”
Full of conflicts of both sizes, “Game of Thrones” can currently be seen on HBO on Sunday nights, while “X-Men: Days of Future Past” arrives on the big screen May 23rd. Expect more interviews with the cast of that film, including Hugh Jackman, in the near future.
