If nothing else, Fox deserves credit for creating a teaser campaign that genuinely teases, because August 7, 2015 is coming up quick and we've still seen next to nothing.
That's not a complaint, either. Honestly, I wish more studios would demonstrate a sense of control when it comes to giving away material in their marketing. I've been happy to see how carefully “Avengers: Age Of Ultron” has been in regards to showing you much of anything from the second half of the film, but there's still a little over a month until the film is released, and we haven't seen them kick the campaign into high gear.
Likewise, I'm sure we'll start seeing more and more footage from “Fantastic Four” once the summer gets started. Since they're set for August, they'll be able to put trailers on everything else that people go to see all summer long and really get the hooks in. For now, they're still just getting started, and this first poster is full of foreboding.
More than anything else, I'm curious to see how they handle the reveal of The Thing in the trailers. They've got to do something very different than the way Tim Story handled the character, and most of what I've heard about the film sounds like they're taking an unusual approach to bringing Ben Grimm to life.
We'll find out soon enough. “Fantastic Four” is in theaters August 7, 2015.
