The idea of George Clooney getting married at one time belonged in the same category as pigs flying and hell freezing over. Well, the notorious bachelor’s fooled us all. Clooney finally tied the knot with girlfriend Amal Alamuddin over the weekend in a ceremony in Venice, Italy. The I Do’s took place at the Aman Hotel which overlooks the Grand Canal and Clooney, his new bride and hordes of their famous friends arrived at the ceremony via water taxis.
Famous pals attending included Matt Damon, Bill Murray, Bono, Anna Wintour and more although buddy Brad Pitt and his wife Angelina Jolie were notably absent from the wedding festivities. The self-confirmed bachelor, who once admitted marriage just wasn’t for him after divorcing actress Talia Balsam in 1993. celebrated his impending nuptials with a few of his celebrity pals the night before while Alamuddin was seen arriving for the couple’s star-studded pre-wedding dinner with close family and friends.
Alamuddin is a British-Lebanese human rights lawyer who reportedly met Clooney through her work. The two had been dating for less than a year when the actor finally popped the question.
