On Sunday morning, presidential candidate Donald Trump phoned into ABC’s This Week with an array of thoughts, but what really stood out was Trump’s latest stance on his long-distance bromance with Russian President Vladmir Putin. The last time Trump spoke with George Stephanopoulos, the news anchor made this face when Trump said he wasn’t mad about Hitler comparisons. Trump, who cannot take cues, now follows up on his assessment of Putin as “a strong, powerful leader.” Trump didn’t condone Putin’s alleged killing of journalists, but there was a strong sense of sweeping evil under the rug.
Sunday morning saw more of Trump’s usual routine of chatting up anyone who loves him in return, for Putin called Trump “very outstanding person.” At this point, Trump won’t even listen to Bill O’Reilly trying to talk some sense into his old pal. Nope. O’Reilly is out, and Putin is in. The clubhouse door is closed, and Trump said this to Stephanopoulos:
“As far as the reporters are concerned, obviously, I don’t want that to happen. I think it’s terrible — horrible. But, in all fairness to Putin, you’re saying he killed people. I haven’t seen that. I don’t know that he has. Have you been able to prove that? Do you know the names of the reporters that he’s killed? Because I’ve been — you know, you’ve been hearing this, but I haven’t seen the name. Now, I think it would be despicable if that took place, but I haven’t seen any evidence that he killed anybody in terms of reporters.”
Trump goes on to point out how Putin “totally denied” ever killing anyone, and that’s good enough for Trump. Someone needs to get these two guys in a room together. We need a televised, awkward meeting.
While we’re on the subject of Trump, did you see what John Kasich unleashed on Saturday? He bought the Trump-Putin2016 domain and created a satirical website. The dude went all out with the details.
“Make Tyranny Great Again!” Also, there’s a campaign video of sorts.
Someone whipped up a faux press release too. How many campaign dollars did Kasich waste on this little joke?
Kasich campaign also out with a press release: "TRUMP NAMES PUTIN AS HIS RUNNING MATE" pic.twitter.com/R83oMtdg69
