Who knew tacos would be a steady supporting player in the saga that is the seemingly never-ending race for the White House? Maybe the conspiracy theorists are right and the Illuminati is in the pocket of Big Taco.
Earlier this week, Donald Trump surrogate/Latinos For Trump co-founder Marco Gutierrez provided a “warning” that raised a lot of eyebrows.
“My culture is a very dominant culture. It’s imposing and it’s causing problems. If you don’t do something about it, you’re going to have taco trucks on every corner.”
That image may put chills down the spine of Trump voters worried about Mexican immigration, but outside of that demo, there are loads of hungry would-be voters that would use up to three magic wishes to make taco trucks on every corner a reality. In fact, Colorado Dems are even using the world’s most mouth-watering threat as a tool for mockery. If you’ll crane your neck all the way to the top of the page (that’s how the internet works, right?), you’ll see a taco truck lined up by a Denver city councilman for purpose of lunch and “talk(ing) with passer-bys about the stakes in this election.” Odds are there were no plans to serve a replica of the Trump Tower taco bowl.
Colorado’s got company when it comes to states with taco truck retorts. As Time notes, Arizona is also getting in on the act with the Arizona Democratic Party hoping to turn Gutierrez’s nightmare into an edible reality.

Steady yourself. There’s still loads more campaigning to go.
