Donald Trump really does not want to attend the GOP debate on Thursday if Megyn Kelly is there. So he’s asking his Instagram and Twitter followers if he should actually show up on debate night. Comments range from “Absolutely! It’s the presidential thing to do… Debate the issues, rise above it” to “PHAN IS REAL BUT YOUR HAIR ISNT #PHILLESTERFORPRESIDENT.” The best part though is the troll-y statement that Fox News, the network hosting the debate, put out in response to all of this.
After The Wrap picked up Trump’s Instagram post, Fox News sent a statement back to them that straight up makes fun of the frontrunner and his pretensions.
Here it is in full:
We learned from a secret back channel that the Ayatollah and Putin both intend to treat Donald Trump unfairly when they meet with him if he becomes president. A nefarious source tells us that Trump has his own secret plan to replace the Cabinet with his Twitter followers to see if he should even go to those meetings.
This statement contains some nice little digs at Trump, his concern over fair treatment, and his supporters. Way to go off-script, Fox News, and do your part to make sure that this election is the most entertaining one we’ve had in a while.
Meanwhile, on Twitter, a majority wants Trump to show up on Thursday.
