The Facts YouTube channel has been on a roll with Irish-themed videos. In the process, they introduced some lovely Irish people to Fox News. Those of us who reside stateside are familiar with the right-wing channel’s hyperbole and ratings-stoking behavior, but these viewers were not prepared. One of the first sentiments expressed — “it’s Donald Trump, turned into a news station” — snowballs into a sea of incredulous faces. The Irish have seen some sh*t throughout history, so they’re not thrilled at the suggestion one anchor makes to indiscriminately bomb Syria without regard for civilians.
To no one’s surprise, Bill O’Reilly features heavily in this compilation. One highlight includes O’Reilly telling a Columbia professor how he looks “a little bit” like a drug dealer. One woman exclaims, “That is not okay!” Her spontaneous reaction reveals what’s truly outrageous about Fox News, and the video acts as a cultural mirror of U.S. political news coverage. By the time Geraldo Rivera’s thoughts on hoodie-wearing youths (and George Zimmerman) pop into town, these folks have had enough of the rhetoric.
The YouTube comments reveal many shades of U.S. embarrassment. User Travis Cheezum issued condolences:
I would just like to apologize for my fellow Americans. I swear, not all of us are as awful as the people on Fox news.
