Omarosa Manigault, the former Apprentice star named by Donald Trump as his presidential campaign’s “African-American Outreach Director,” is hard at work spreading his message. She already used July’s announcement to bolster Trump’s reputation among black voters, decrying his low poll numbers and criticizing most of the reporting performed against the Republican nominee. However, according to the new trailer for The Choice, a special edition of the PBS news show Frontline, Omarosa is doing more than just singing Trump’s praises. She’s also warning his critics of retribution.
Of course, the reality television star doesn’t outright threaten Trump’s detractors in the trailer. Yet the language she uses at the 3:04 mark is highly suggestive:
“Donald Trump is running for president because he really, truly believes he can turn the country around. More importantly, every critic, every detractor will have to bow down to President Trump.”
Considering the amount of time Frontline has put into The Choice — scheduling and conducting interviews, editing this trailer and the final cut — it’s highly unlikely any connection exists between Omarosa’s brash comments and Trump’s recent hiring of Breitbart’s Stephen Bannon as his campaign’s chief executive. Still, the timing is quite eerie.
If the Republican White House hopeful’s new team adopts a more aggressive approach to the final months leading up to November, then it’s a sure bet language like Omarosa’s won’t be far behind. However, most recent poll numbers aren’t too supportive of Americans uttering the phrase “President Trump” come January 2017.
