President Obama Condemns ‘What Appears To Be A Terrorist Attack’ In Nice

As details continue to trickle in about today’s horrific mass killing in Nice, President Barack Obama has issued a statement on the tragedy.

“On behalf of the American people, I condemn in the strongest terms what appears to be a horrific terrorist attack in Nice, France, which killed and wounded dozens of innocent civilians,” said President Obama. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and other loved ones of those killed, and we wish a full recovery for the many wounded.”

At present, 73 people are believed dead following a rampage where a truck driver plowed through innocent civilians. President Obama has offered French officials any assistance they need and declared “we stand in solidarity and partnership with France, our oldest ally, as they respond to and recover from this attack.”

This recent tragedy is one of many that France has had to endure. November’s Paris terror attacks and the Charlie Hebdo shooting of January 2015 have previously shocked the nation and increased security was evident at this year’s Euro 2016 tournament.

Presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump has also commented on today’s events in Nice. He also announced that he’ll be postponing Friday’s news conference where he was expected to name a running mate.
