Katrina Pierson has become known for getting facts wrong on many occasions during Election 2016, making people question why she’s able to speak on behalf of Donald Trump’s campaign. Not only has she attempted to change history numerous times during television interviews, she’s also been accused of being flat wrong. It is even to the point where her own campaign is trying to reel her in a bit in terms of what she says during public appearances.
The most recent, seen above, shows Pierson attempt to falsely blame President Obama for the invasion of Afghanistan during an appearance on CNN:
“Remember, we weren’t even in Afghanistan by this time. Barack Obama went into Afghanistan, creating another problem.”
She then added that Afghanistan was “Obama’s war.” If the visible confusion of Victor Blackwell doesn’t knock home how silly this has become, clearly we’re not paying close enough attention. Pierson should hope so, especially given the Trump’s campaign past comments on her statements.
Blackwell uses a commercial break as an attempt to clarify Pierson’s remarks, leading her to quickly return to the ISIS talking points echoed by others in the campaign. Hard to tell if the damage has already been done at this point, but we’ll have to see the route the campaign decides to take. If anything, it does give the attention the candidate aims to receive when he makes his own comments.
