Damon Wayans Sr. is officially too old for this s–t, now that he's been cast as Roger Murtaugh in a FOX pilot adaptation of the Lethal Weapon films.
While the elder Wayans, whose career started out on FOX with In Living Color, is stepping into Danny Glover's shoes, casting still has to be done for Mel Gibson's role. The logline for the pilot, which is being written by Forever creator Matt Miller:
When Texas cop and former Navy SEAL Martin Riggs suffers the loss of his wife and baby, he moves to Los Angeles to start anew. There, he gets partnered with LAPD detective Roger Murtaugh (Damon Wayans, Sr.), who, having recently suffered a “minor” heart attack, must avoid any stress in his life.
Texas, eh? Any initial thoughts on who could play Riggs? And does Lethal Weapon seem like a property that can just go to a new pair of actors, or was the Gibson/Glover of it the whole point?
