Bill Burr, like a lot of New England Patriots fans, is indignant. The stand-up comedian and Massachusetts native went off (in an extremely NSFW fashion) on the NFL and Roger Goodell in the latest edition of his podcast. Why? Because of the penalties levied against the 2015 Super Bowl champions, namely the four-game suspension that Tom Brady received.
According to Burr, Brady’s suspension stemmed from the suspension that former Ravens running back Ray Rice originally received last year. Burr believes that, because Goodell didn’t suspend Rice long enough at first, he had to over-suspend Brady, saying that he’s “like a baby poisonous snake just unleashing all the venom when he doesn’t need to do that.” He also compared the situation to the famous George Brett pine tar incident in 1983.
At the end of his rant, Burr claimed that if the Patriots don’t overturn Brady’s suspension then he will rally all of the New England fans that he knows and have them sue the NFL for emotional damage done. I have no idea if Burr would have any chance at winning if it came to that, but it would certainly be entertaining.
