Saturday is the annual football game between Army and Navy. There are a few fun subplots to this one – on the field, the Black Knights are trying to top the Midshipmen for the first time since 2001, while in the broadcast booth, this is the final college football game of Verne Lundquist’s legendary career.
While Lundquist is usually joined in the booth by Gary Danielson, the duo welcomed a third person to their broadcasting crew on Saturday: Donald Trump. The President-elect of the United States hung out for a little during the third quarter, and among other things, he offered this insight into the quality of the game: “I don’t know if it’s necessarily the best football… but boy do they have spirit, more than anybody, it’s beautiful.”
The entire segment was extremely awkward, and you can watch it above.
This is far from Trump’s most controversial sports take, as he’s been keen on saying pretty much anything when it comes to football, basketball, or otherwise:

@JLin7 is a special player. He makes watching the Knicks fun. I think he can lead the Knicks far this season. http://t.co/yMg6pWWC @JLin7
