I have to give credit to TMZ where credit is due, as I’ve always thought that if I could ask boxing legend and Broadway star Mike Tyson one question, it would probably have to be about Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out!!, which was one of the best games ever created for the original Nintendo system. I’d call it the best ever, but Rygar was my jam, so the champ will have to settle with No. 2.
But he admitted to a TMZ photog the other night before dining that while he was the face and name of one of the most beloved video games of the late 80s (and 2000s for the subsequent re-launches), he actually sucked at it. In fact, as he so Mike-Tyson-ly put it: “I couldn’t even beat Glass-f*cking-Joe.” That’s a pretty depressing revelation right there.
Tyson claims that he didn’t actually get into video games until 2006 or 2007, and he says that his favorite games are “Tour of Duty” (assuming he means Call of Duty) and “the ones with zombies.” But now that he has answered this important question, I guess I can update my life goals to finding out why the game had two exclamation points in the title instead of one or three. This being the Internet, though, I’m sure someone will let me know very soon.
