Meet Oliver, a precocious and adorable five-year-old boy who is starring in his very own science video, “Oliver’s Science Lab!” What were you doing at five? You probably couldn’t even make your own bowl of cereal, could you? And here’s this kid, who could already practically be Bill Nye’s protege. Oliver’s dad writes on Reddit that his son has been wanting to make science videos (literally) since he could talk, and that this is his first one (of what will likely be many).
For his first video experiment, young Oliver demonstrates how to make a tornado in a jar. For this experiment, you will need a large jar, water, vinegar, dish soap, and — if preferred — food coloring to make your tornado in a jar look extra snazzy. As he explains, you simply fill your jar with water to just before the curve, add your other ingredients, stir that sh*t up then spin your jar in a circular motion and voila! You’ve got yourself a nice little tornado in a jar.
Oliver goes on to explain some of his favorite cool facts about tornadoes to round out the video, which his dad says that he picks up from shows like Crash Course and SciShow Kids. If all that doesn’t win you over, perhaps Oliver’s sign-off phrase will. “SCIENCE, SCIENCE, I’M DONE!” he shouts. What could be cuter than that?
