A few months back, Hulu announced that it was producing a new series titled 11.22.63, based on the book of the same name by Stephen King. The series, which — in accordance with California law — will be executive-produced by J.J. Abrams, will feature James Franco traveling back in time to try to prevent the JFK assassination. And now it has a premiere date. Fittingly, the series about trying to save a president using time travel will debut on Presidents Day, February 16, 2016. Get it? Because of the thing.
The press release announcing the premiere date also includes a more detailed plot description…
11.22.63 is a thriller in which high school history teacher Jake Epping (James Franco) travels back in time to prevent the assassination of President John F. Kennedy — but his mission is threatened by Lee Harvey Oswald, falling in love and the past itself, which doesn’t want to be changed. Also starring Chris Cooper, Josh Duhamel, T.R. Knight, Cherry Jones, Sarah Gadon, Lucy Fry, George MacKay and Daniel Webber.
… and a bunch of brand new official photos from the series. Tell you what, if James Franco doesn’t end up saving JFK by the end of this series, don’t let him try to blame it on Oswald or true love. Based on these photos, the bigger issue appears to be all the time he spent shopping for period-appropriate clothes. Dammit, James! Buy jeans and a white t-shirt! There’s no time to be fashion forward! You’ve got history to undo!
