Weekend Preview: Don Draper Has One Last Chance To Get It Right In The ‘Mad Men’ Mid-Season Premiere

Mad Men
(AMC, Sunday 10:00 p.m.) — It’s yet another fresh start for Don Draper following a mid-season finale that saw the official end of his marriage to Megan, and a move from the clutches of Jim Cutler to the clutches of McCann Erickson. Will Don’s baggage and his penchant for making the same mistakes damn him to a tragic end, or will he take this last opportunity to find actual and lasting contentment? We get to start chipping away at that question on Sunday night during the first of the show’s final seven episodes.

Derek (Netflix, Available Now) — We only just heard about the Derek wrap-up special, and yet here it is — one last goodbye to this belov… show that most certainly did exist.

Grimm (NBC, Friday 8:00 p.m.) — Nick and Hank stumble upon a Wesen who can kill with a touch after a cyclist is found dead.

Syfy Friday Dramas (Syfy, Friday 9:00-11:00 p.m.) — Time travel is starting to wear down Cole’s body on 12 Monkeys, and the followers chase after Kyle and Jordan as they try to get off the island on Helix.

Saturday Night Live (NBC, Saturday 11:30 p.m.) — Everyone is counting on another Birdman sketch now that Michael Keaton is in the house, but I’m hoping for a Beetlejuice desk bit. And also a Jon Hamm cameo.

Shameless (Showtime, Sunday 9:00 p.m.) — Fiona juggles Gus and her feelings for Sean and Frank works to keep Bianca happy in the season finale.

American Odyssey (NBC, Sunday 10:00 p.m.) — In the series premiere of this new NBC drama, a US soldier finds evidence of a corporate conspiracy with ties to terrorism before her unit is killed and she is thought dead. Meanwhile, Peter Facinelli continues to have a winning smile while playing a corporate lawyer who finds evidence of the same cover-up.

LATE NIGHT GUESTS: Mike Myers and Nick Griffin on Letterman; and Ricky Gervais and Jordana Brewster on Fallon.
