When Paul Walker died last year, most thought that the movie was done, but we were reassured that they will re-write it and give Walker a nice send off. But then the studio remembered money, and will use CGI and body doubles to keep him in the film. Via NY Daily News:
Shooting has now resumed for “Fast & Furious 7,” and Confidenti@l has learned exactly how Paul Walker will remain in the film.
“They have hired four actors with bodies very similar to Paul’s physique and they will be used for movement and as a base,” one source close to production tells us. “Paul’s face and voice will be used on top using CGI.”
CGI is very advanced, but it hasn’t reached the point in film that will make this type of thing believable. Remember when they de-aged a still alive Jeff Bridges in Tron: Legacy? Yeah, that looked completely awful. Does this means that people won’t go see it? Of course not! This is the 6th sequel to a movie about car racing with the same plot as Point Break. I’m even going to see it (on FX, eventually) just to see how they pull it off.
