Apologetic Burglars Returned Computers They Stole From A Sexual Assault Services Office

On July 31, a group of burglars broke into the San Bernardino County Sexual Assault Services offices and stole six desktop computers and a new laptop. Apparently they were unaware of who they were robbing, though, because according to NPR, the next night, “someone returned the stolen goods and also left behind a note.” It reads:

“We had no idea what we were takeing. Here your stuff back. We hope that you guys can continue to make a difference in peoples live. God bless.”

If they had kept the computers, maybe Spell Check would have caught that typo, but we’ll let it slide.

Candy Stallings, the center’s director, thinks she knows who spread the word that led to the stolen goods’ return. After the burglary, police talked with homeless people in the area around the center’s offices — “explaining what our facility does and the services we provide to the community,” she says. Stallings believes those homeless people then told others. (Via)

To dissuade any more would-be Wet Bandits, the center has set up an intricate system of booby traps, each more comical than the last. To help pay for the cost, however, they could use a little donation.
