A woman walking her dog this morning in Brooklyn’s Sunset Park neighborhood was having a regular morning until she realized she had narrowly missed walking across a section of the street that opened up into an apocalyptic chasm. The FDNY has been tweeting their progress on a 25-foot-wide sinkhole that was reported at around 8 a.m. New York time.

No injuries were reported, so we can all feel free to make jokes about this. Like, does this officially mean that the gates of hell are in Brooklyn? Is this a job for the Ghostbusters? If we throw change in this thing, will it speak to us and/or grant us a wish? Will anyone even notice this thing? Most importantly: Is there an actual plan to fix it, or will it just become a new unofficial landmark?
If anything crawls out of it, expect an update. Unless the Brooklyn Holebeast comes to my neighborhood and eats me in my sleep.
