Good news, fans of sick kids getting their wishes granted: A bunch of dedicated Star Wars fans will be doing a relay race to raise money for Make-A-Wish again this year.
The original Course of the Force, arranged by Nerdist Industries, is the track and field event we all know from… well, an NES game. Except you’re in costume, as you can see above, and carrying a lightsaber instead of some ridiculous baton, meaning it’s a lot more awesome than your average charity run:
Kicking off at the famed Skywalker Ranch, participants will continue the relay run down through San Francisco with several stops along the California coastline before reaching the finish line— arriving just in time for the start of the 2013 San Diego Comic-Con International convention.
There will also be multiple city stops along the California coast as the lightsaber wends its way from Marin County to the San Diego Convention Center, allowing fans to meet, hobnob about the series, and contribute to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Each participant runs a quarter mile, and last year there were spectacles like Jabba’s sail barge being involved in the procession. If running around in costume while making sick kids happy is your kind of thing, and you live in the area, check out the registration page. And, hey, you get a lightsaber for your $150 registration fee, so everyone wins.
