Yesterday was Flag Day, apparently. You didn’t notice because it’s not a federal holiday, unless you live in Pennsylvania, and if you’re reading this, you’re probably not in elementary school and didn’t have to write a report about it. So, Pennsylvanians, elementary schools, and Fox News are the only people who care about Flag Day.
How do we know Fox News cares? Because they spent most of yesterday whining about how Google didn’t have a Flag Day doodle and Bing totally did.
June 14 is Flag Day, a national holiday celebrating the Stars and Stripes since 1949. But don’t ask Google about it.
The search giant is known for its colorful, interactive logos for everything from the 78th birthday of the inventor of the Moog synthesizer to Earth Day to the anniversary of Pac-Man. But for Flag Day, the company was presenting visitors with nothing but its usual site, declining to play up the red and blue in its logo.
This is in Fox’s science and technology section.
Granted, we all know it was a slow news day for Fox because of Brian Kilmeade’s attempt to fill air by telling sexist jokes so stupid he literally drove his coworker off the air, but come on, guys. At least make an effort to drum up a conspiracy theory if you’re going to be petty.
