While gay marriage has now been legalized in the United States and Ireland, and gay rights has been making overall positive strides in an increasing number of countries, we can’t forget that we still have a long way to go. In many places in the world, being gay is not only not socially accepted, but it’s actually punishable by law.
We know Russia is particularly hostile to homosexuals, but it’s hard to grasp how bad it is without seeing it firsthand. This video sets out to do just that, as two men walk through the streets of Russia holding hands to document the prejudice and hatred they experience. It’s a hard truth to know that there are so many people in the world still enduring this discrimination on a daily basis.
