Good news for all of you out there using wireless Internet (which is pretty much everyone under the age of 40 these days) — Japanese scientists have found a way to make Wi-Fi over 20-times faster than the fastest current connections.
How did they achieve this? Through the mighty power of T-rays! The T-ray band is the part of the electromagnetic spectrum between 300 GHz and 3 THz, which is currently unused by anything else. It’s all a bit technical, but the important take away is this — the Japanese scientists harnessed these T-rays to create a Wi-Fi connection capable of transmitting data at 3Gb/s. Note, that’s 3 gigabits-per-second, which translates to around 375 megabytes-per-second, which is still pretty damn crazy.
T-ray powered wireless routers probably won’t be available to buy at your local Best Buy for a while, but when they are I’m looking forward to laying in bed with my laptop and downloading every HBO show ever filmed in around 2 minutes.
