Sometimes you have to get creative to spread the word of God. Some churches like to infuse rock and roll and popular music into their sermons, while others might opt for top notch entertainment to tel a story while also preaching the gospel. Dean and Christy Parave on the other hand decided give aid to Christ in a way that suited their lifestyle choices: swinging.
Swinging, also known as partner swapping, is popular in some circles, but it is not normally something you’d see being used to teach about The Bible. It sorta bends the meaning of one of the Ten Commandments a bit too much, but that’s not stopping the Paraves from going for it. From The New York Post:
Cristy Parave and her husband, Dean, are the unashamed bodybuilding Jesus lovers bringing couples together and introducing them to their wild lifestyle of swapping sex partners and Bible verses, Barcroft Media reports.
When the fitness gurus got sick of finding swingers online who couldn’t meet their standards, they decided to set up their own swinging network — FitnessSwingers.com. They have been touring the US ever since, meeting couples who want to join in and indulge in their holy promiscuity…
“I don’t think God would be mad at what we are doing,” Cristy said. “At first I was conflicted, but the more we looked at it, the more it makes sense to us.”
Makes sense to me. Who wouldn’t want to use their hobbies to help do something good for their chosen belief structure. And if you can find others to do the same, that’s what we call fellowship. Even if it’s sorta going against the core tenets of said belief.
It’s a little like going to Golden Corral and telling everyone you had a fancy meal. It might work in your head, but there’s going to be a lot of people judging you at the end of the day. Especially your doctor.
