In case you weren’t watching the NBA Finals, Jay-Z rolled out his first execution with Samsung in a major way.
Hov didn’t debut a song, but he does star in a three-minute commercial, which also features a who’s who of notable producers in Swizz Beatz, Timbaland, Pharrell and Rick Rubin. Midway through the clip, Jay announces a “new album” which seems to be titled the Magna Carta Holy Grail.
According to the site associated with the project, www.magnacartaholygrail.com, the album will be available early for free to a select number of Samsung Galaxy Note II users on Thursday, July 4th, 72 hours before the album’s scheduled release date. The details also indicate there will be one million downloads given away. Samsung reportedly paid $5 per copy and it’s currently unclear if those sales will count in the Nielsen SoundScan sales total.
Welcome back, Jay.
Correction: The album is free for the first million Samsung Galaxy S3, S4 and Note II users who download through an app they’ll receive later this month.
