You might remember Micah Wright from “Stormwatch: Achilles” or “You Back the Attack, We’ll Bomb Who We Want”, a criticism of the Iraq War.
Then it came out Wright had been lying about being an Army Ranger. To be fair, Wright getting booted from the entire industry seemed a little drastic, even if he did dig his own hole by essentially whining to the entire Internet about how it wasn’t fair he was expected to have, like, done the crap he claimed on his resume.
Now he’s back via, what else, a Kickstarter. Specifically a graphic novel about a female cropduster who winds up fighting Nazis in Texas towards the end of World War II called “Duster”. We guess there’s no better way to determine whether you’re forgiven than if people are willing to bet $30 you’ll be able to publish a hardback.
The preview, available on the Kickstarter page, actually looks really good. The writing is solid and the art is great, with hand-drawn speech bubbles and sound effects.
What do you think? Would you buy this book, or should Wright keep away from comics?
