And “seems legit” was uttered all across the internet. Only this time it was legit.
An Indian owner of a billboard dedicated to Nelson Mandela was red-faced on Thursday after the discovery that a photo of actor Morgan Freeman was used instead of one of the anti-apartheid hero.
The billboard was erected on the side of a road in the southern city of Coimbatore as part of memorials across India and the world to Mandela, who died on December 5.
A tweet from Indian journalist Samanth Subramanian with the perfect caption, “A billboard in Chennai fondly remembers Nelson Mandela but gets a minor detail wrong,” put the error on the national radar. The merchant responsible intends to replace the image immediately. No response from Morgan Freeman yet but we can only assume he’s OK with anything that diverts people’s attention from Last Vegas.
