A Nintendo system wouldn’t be a Nintendo system without delays, and the Wii U has just suffered it’s first big one — Pikmin 3, previously promised to be a “launch window” title, has been pushed back to Q2 of 2013 (so, sometime between the beginning of April and the end of June).
Unfortunate news, particularly since the long-awaiting return of Pikmin was the thing that enticed many core gamers to pick up a Wii U. As a small consolation, the Nintendo Direct webcast that announced the delay also featured a few minutes of new Pikmin 3 footage. Hit the jump for that and some other Nintendo Direct tidbits…
Definitely looking nicer than it did back at E3. If that angler fish/moth/stingray hybrid monstrosity near the end of the video is any indication, this game’s enemy design is going to be completely bats–t.
Nintendo also provided some concrete details about Game & Wario, the latest game in the WarioWare series. This one looks like it’s going to provide some really interesting dual screen gaming ideas.
Finally, the first few months of 2013 are actually looking pretty good for the 3DS with new Luigi’s Mansion, Fire Emblem, Castlevania and Brain Training all on the way. Also, the cool looking, developed by Pokemon creators Game Freak, HarmoKnight will be hitting the 3DS’ digital shop. So, hopefully you like portable games, and didn’t have your heart too set on tossing around colorful ant men in early 2013.
