It’s been a year since Brian Michael Bendis and Kevin Falls (producer of Journeyman and The West Wing) pitched an adaptation of Bendis’s and Michael Avon Oeming’s comic series Powers to FX. Well, it looks like FX has finally stopped dragging their heels as Deadline has announced that FX has finally approved a pilot order and the pilot will be shot this spring. At this point, Falls has left the project, so it’ll be directed by Michael Dinner (who’s produced a wide range of TV show going back to The Wonder Years) from a script written by Charles H. Eglee (executive producer of The Walking Dead, Dexter and The Shield).
If you haven’t read it in a while, Powers follows two cops, Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim as they investigate crimes in a world filled with superheroes. (It’s later revealed that Walker used to be a superhero named “Diamond,” but became a cop after he lost his powers.)
Now, if there’s one person who’d make a good live-action Deena Pilgrim, it’s Battlestar Galactica vet Katee Sackhoff, so it’s lucky that she’s pushing to get the role. She recently twittered:
So, now that the pilot’s got a green light, here’s hoping she can get on board.
