COOL STORY, BRO
I don’t really think I’m letting the cat out of the bag here when I say that that The Learning Channel is a terrible, terrible broadcasting platform. I mean, aside from producing nothing but sh*t, all that channel does is cash checks that are based on taking advantage of other people. And who has become the latest demographic that TLC will prey and profit from? That’s correct: NERDS! As if they couldn’t get any more stereotypical, the channel will air two back-to-back specials documenting a geek-friendly speed dating program. This should be educational. And terrifying. And depressing. And, and, oh God…
Dating’s never easy, but try dating in a Darth Vader mask or Wonder Woman ensemble. Now meet nerd-tastic Ryan Giltch, founder of Sci-Fi Speed Dating, who will bring viewers into the fun, quirky and sometimes bizarre world of geek-focused speed dating on TLC’s new special GEEK LOVE. Two half hour specials have been ordered and will air back to back on December 18th at 9PM (ET/PT). [source]
I mean, I know I’m overly sensitive, but the whole show seems just a little too focused on exploring the loneliness that they apparently assume every geek experiences. I mean, social retardation and having a Slave Leia fetish are two totally different things…or are they? Decide for yourself.
