Earlier today we brushed up on a quick, slang-filled summary of The Hobbit. But for those of you who still plan to see The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug anyway, we have new photos released by Warner this week. The first picture below suggests one memorable scene from the book may play differently on the screen.
As noted by the Tolkieniacs* at The One Ring, this promo image of Dwarfs in barrels suggests some changes from the original Hobbit novel. For one thing, they’re not all on the verge of throwing up. For another, there’s the exciting promise of arrows embedded in the wood, as though they’ve come under fire. This means “action set piece” and Jackson tends to be very good at these, going right back to when he played every character in the fight scene himself. [Bleeding Cool]
That’s quite a ride photo, but it really needs a festive banner like this one:
And now, a picture of Bilbo reflected in Smaug’s eye. Water rides and dragons? This is the best theme park ever.
These next pictures are the covers to three upcoming Hobbit tie-in books: Visual Companion, The Movie Storybook, and Annual 2014. They give a new look at Evangeline Lilly as Tauriel and Luke Evans as Bard the Bowman.
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug opens December 13th.
