I bet they’re singing about tilted cameras and low ceilings.
Justin Moran of “POPE! The Musical” really did it. He put together a one-hour Spider-Man musical (The Spidey Project: With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility) with no budget in less than a month. The tickets for both shows were gone a minute after becoming available and the show opened at The People’s Improv Theater in New York City prior to the official opening of Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark, making Moran’s show the first Spider-Man musical to open in New York City and also the only Spider-Man musical with a song about Chipotle. Important things, these.
The cast list is available at the official website, and the one-hour musical is embedded after the jump and seems pretty good (especially the music composition) for something thrown together in less than a month with no budget and only volunteers. But I’ll be honest: I punched out partway into it. If only musicals could be less, um, musical. Who breaks out into song, ever? And I’m still trying to figure out why those a-holes didn’t just pay their damn rent.
