Leave it to a bunch of dumb college students to ruin a timeless classic. During Saturday’s College GameDay at West Virginia, those wild and and crazy Mountaineers broke into a rendition of Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline.” Unfortunately, these kids were pretty lubed up so “Sweet Caroline” basically devolved into a song about those nasty Pitt Panthers. For those of you unfamiliar, West Virgina and Pitt play a game every year called the “Backyard Brawl” (or at least they used to when they were in the Big East). The two rival schools DO NOT like each other, their fans do not like each other, yada, yada, yada.
As you can see in the video, the GameDay crew had a grand ole time with this version of Sweet Caroline. Can’t say I blame them really. I too laughed my ass off. Then again, I’m a child trapped in a fat man’s body.
