As you may have heard, the U.S. economy is in a freefall, again, with the Dow dropping more than 600 points in the wake of the country’s credit rating being downgraded on Friday (Thanks Tea Party!). What does this all mean? Well, everyone’s broke and we’re all going to die — that seems to be the main message being pushed forward by much of the media anyway. Panic! Hysteria! BUY GOLD!
Thankfully, we have the internet to balance things out and provide some comic relief while we all watch whatever retirement savings we had disappear into thin air. So of course (OF COURSE!) there exists a “Sad Guys On Trading Floors” Tumblr that’s just filled with wire service photos of, well, finance guys looking sad on trading floors like in the one above. We assembled a few of our favorites after the jump for your amusement during this time of economic duress.
Meanwhile, excuse me while I go out back to sharpen my knives as it looks like we’ll all be huntin’, skinnin’ and cookin’ our own meals for the foreseeable future. Looks like the skills I picked up during the course of my primitive Cajun upbringing in the swamps of Louisiana might soon come in handy!
