You don’t have to be a brain surgeon to know that rattlesnakes are the kind of animal you want to handle with care. Obviously, Todd Fassler from San Diego missed that lesson in his life and was taught two others in the process. The first came almost at the cost of his life after Fessler was bit taking a selfie with a rattler.
According to ABC 10 and the clip above, it was a pretty good bite and it pushed the hospital staff to the limits in order to save Fassler’s life:
Doctors depleted the anti-venom stash at two different hospitals to treat Todd Fassler, who as it turns out once had a pet rattlesnake of his own. He sent us video he says shows him setting his snake free.
Fassler said he had the rattlesnake for more than a year but let it go because he thinks animal services would appreciate it.
His second lesson came in the form of his doctor bill, totaling over $150K to treat his snake bite. Will the lesson stick? That remains to be seen, but Fessler is certainly lucky that he’s around to work out a payment plan to get rid of the debt.
