Ahmed Mohamed, the 14-year-old boy who found himself at the center of a media storm Wednesday when news went viral that he had been arrested for bringing a homemade clock to school, has already gained the support of much of the internet. As we previously mentioned, shortly after news broke of his Monday arrest, people took to Twitter to stand up with the ninth grader, who was soon the subject of his own hashtag. By mid-day, the internet had completely lost its mind and he became a full-fledged meme.
And now Mohamed has reached the highest praise of all. Shortly before noon on Wednesday, President Obama himself tweeted the below message to the remarkable young man:
Cool clock, Ahmed. Want to bring it to the White House? We should inspire more kids like you to like science. It's what makes America great.

Can you imagine what’s going through this kid’s head right now? In the space of 48 hours, he has gone from being unfairly arrested and most likely being targeted due to his ethnicity, and now he’s garnering praise by the President of the United States and being invited to the White House. When I was 14, it was a big day if my favorite episode of Tiny Toons came on. Let’s hear it for Ahmed! I have a feeling big things are in store in his future.
